Alice Lane - Fundraising for Samaritans.

Alice Lane - Fundraising for Samaritans.
We are so proud to highlight Alice Lane, Sales Executive at Mercedes-Benz of Poole, who is running the London Marathon in April for such a great cause.
Alice is running the London Marathon to raise money for Samaritans. We asked Alice why she chose Samaritans as the charity to fundraise for, ‘I was overwhelmed when I got the phone call from Samaritans offering me a place to run for them in the London Marathon. For as long as I can remember I have struggled with my own mental health and sometimes it can be a massive relief to be able to reach out to someone in a difficult time. Samaritans is a service that everyone can use when they are feeling low, that is why it is so important to me to be representing them whilst running. Without donations, they can’t help people when they most need it’. The reason why she chose to run the marathon is because ‘I have always been keen on running even at a young age, I used to participate in running at school and park run events with my Mum so naturally I wanted to try and see if I could achieve running in a Marathon’.
The London Marathon covers just over 26 miles of running, when speaking about how training is going, Alice said ‘Training has been tough; I am so used to running short distance so being able to improve my stamina and pace for a long-distance run has been a real challenge. I would be lying if I said it has been straight forward; there have been a few injuries along the way, and I have gotten through multiple pairs of trainers! Despite the difficulty of the training, I enjoy the challenge, so it has been fun so far’.
Alice recently hosted a bake sale at our Poole Showroom, to boost her fundraising – she ended up raising over £350!
