Mercedes-Benz reputation may lie with creating luxury cars rather than boats: but when they do take to the seas, it’s a sight to behold. This is the spectacular Mercedes-Benz Arrow460-Granturismo Yacht, captured off the coast of Nice, France.
This first example of the Arrow460 Granturismo is simply named ‘Mercedes’, though it’s been nicknamed the ‘Silver Arrow of the Seas’ in a nod to the Mercedes racing cars of the 1930s. Powered by dual diesel engines offering 706kw (960hp), with sublimely balanced proportions reminiscent of Mercedes automobiles, the Silver Arrow glides across the waters with dynamite elegance.
At 14 metres long, the Arrow 460- Granturismo Mercedes accommodates 10 – that’s enough room to invite your friends over to enjoy the high-life with a luxury yacht party, or take your family for a cross-ocean cruise. On the inside, you’ll be greeted by a plush wood-lined interior featuring a fine-grain eucalyptus.
“In developing the new motor yacht, we have transferred our expertise to the marine industry, creating something never seen before in the process. The ‘Silver Arrow of the Seas’ stands for modern luxury, avant-garde style and comfortable elegance. The yacht embodies the Mercedes-Benz’s progressive, dynamic design philosophy of sensual purity on the water,” said Gorden Wagener, Vice President Design Daimler AG.
Sadly only 10 units of the Arrow 450 Grantuismo are to be created. And with each model costing at least ?1.2 million, and only one vessel allowed per country, it may not be the next Mercedes you purchase.
But that doesn’t mean true Mercedes elegance is out of your reach – there’s still a spectacular range of Mercedes cars to choose from. Why not take a closer look at the Sandown new Mercedes collection?
