The new Mercedes-AMG EQS 53 4MATIC+

Mercedes-Benz have shared details of their first steps towards the all-electric future of performance driving; introducing the Mercedes-AMG EQS 53 4MATIC+.

The first battery-electric AMG production model to be released by the brand, the Mercedes-AMG EQS 53 is based on the Mercedes EQ architecture for luxury and executive-class vehicles. Despite a different source of power, customers can expect the same dynamic driving experience, first-class technology and emotive sound that traditional Mercedes-AMG models are renowned for.

The electric powertrain of the Mercedes-AMG EQS 53 – with one motor each at the front and rear axles – supports fully-variable AMG Performance 4MATIC+ all-wheel drive, ensuring optimal performance in all driving conditions.

In terms of driving performance, the Mercedes-AMG EQS 53 as standard has a maximum output of 658hp, with a maximum motor torque of 950 Nm. If the optional extra AMG DYNAMIC PLUS package is selected, the maximum output is then increased to whopping 761hp in RACE START mode with boost function, while the maximum torque becomes 1020 Nm. It is clear that the electric powertrain has only positive impacts on the output of this impressive vehicle.

Mercedes-AMG have employed a sound system which incorporates special loudspeakers, shakers and a sound generator to create two versions of sound experience within the Mercedes-AMG EQS 53. Drivers have the choice between ‘Authentic’ and ‘Performance’ sound experiences, which are designed to have varying tonality and intensity in alignment with the current driving status and driving mode. This technology empowers drivers to tailor their driving experience to their personal wishes.

Of equal importance to the output and delivery when accelerating of the Mercedes-AMG EQS 53, is the energy recuperation when breaking. Drivers will be able to alter the level of recuperation via the steering wheel, as well as receiving situation-related support from the ECO Assistant.

Equipped with Mercedes-Benz’s new generation of battery, the Mercedes-AMG EQS 53 benefits form an efficient thermal management system which helps to reduce its charging time. Working together with the intelligent navigation with Electric Intelligence, the battery can be heated or cooled whilst driving to ensure it reaches the optimum temperature for fast charging by the time it reaches the charging point.

The Mercedes-AMG EQS 53 4MATIC+ is making waves in enhancing multiple areas of electric vehicle ownership, with an enjoyable driving experience at the forefront of its design and technology. We can’t wait for this ground-breaking vehicle to reach the roads!
