According to Top Gear “Mercedes throws everything it knows into the new S-Class. The Results are nothing short of astounding”
We look at what it is that makes reviewers like Top Gear and Auto Express rate the S-Class so highly. Mercedes-Benz have always been at the forefront of automotive advancement, driving the latest technology and driver features effortlessly into their premium line vehicles.
The S-Class is available with either the 3-litre V6 diesel in the S350 or the 5-litre V8 petrol in the S500. For the more eco-friendly and ‘green’ minded driver, Mercedes have created three different options. Firstly the S300 which is a 2.2-litre diesel hybrid featuring a small electric motor, the S400 h which is a 3.5-litre petrol hybrid. Finally the S500 e which is a 3.0-litre V6 petrol Plug-in hybrid.
The S-Class is very efficient, it sips frugally at your fuel supply so you’ll benefit from a fuel economy of 61.4mpg with the S300 hybrid and a whopping 100.9mpg with the S500 Plug-in hybrid. If your drive to work is less than 20 miles, you could pretty much drive to work and back without using any fuel at all, assuming you have somewhere to charge your car either end! Obviously this is also a very powerful model, and should you wish to utilise the power of the S-Class you’ll notice these efficiency figures drop as you might expect.
The S-Class is a luxury vehicle, and therefore has copious space inside for your legs, passengers and head room. Drivers will enjoy a practical 510-litre boot unless you opt-in for the fridge compartment which reduces the space to 470-litres. All variants in the S-Class range feature a pair of 12.3-inch HD screens including satellite navigation, digital radio and a CD/DVD drive. Owners also benefit from Bluetooth functionality and a WiFi hotspot. There is an optional night vision display available to compliment the standard setup and enhance the driver experience that much further. The general fit and finish of the interior is flawless as you might expect, topped with the highest quality materials, black poplar wood trim covering the dashboard, centre console, doors and steering wheel.
