Mercedes-Benz have shared UK pricing and specification details for the new S 580 e L plug-in hybrid which is on sale now.

The S 580 e L plug-in hybrid is officially on sale with prices starting from £104,490 for the S 580 e L AMG Line Premium, while the top-of-the-range S 580 e L AMG Line Premium Plus Executive is set to achieve £113,880.

Equipped with both a 28.6 kWh battery and a 3.0-litre straight-six engine, the newest S-Class can produce an impressive 367 hp whilst emitting just 18 g/km of CO2. On top of that, the S 580 e L plug-in hybrid can achieve an all-electric range of up to 63 miles.

Inside the new S-Class is the latest Mercedes-Benz User Experience (MBUX) technology, including a 12.3-inch digital driver display, as well as an MBUX tablet which

exclusive to the Executive line - when taken outside the vehicle can function as a fully-fledged tablet including the ability to download Android apps.

Safety is still at the forefront of the design of the new S-Class, with the following assistive packages receiving brand new updates:

Active Distance Assist DISTRONIC - responds to stationary road users to prevent collisions up to 80 mph (previously 37 mph)

Traffic Sign Assist; now warns of inadvertently running a stop sign or red light

Active Lane Keeping Assist; uses active steering intervention (instead of braking intervention) and can indicate potential hazards via the ambient lighting

Active Evasive Steering Assist; responds to cyclists and ends of tailbacks in addition to pedestrians. The operating range on urban routes has been expanded to 67 mph (where it was previously 44 mph).

The S-Class can be truly tailored to suit each individual's style and to create the ultimate luxury, with four model lines providing the choice of optional features such as augmented reality head-up display; Burmester® 3D Surround sound system; panoramic sliding sunroof; 20 or 21-inch AMG multi-spoke alloy wheels; heated centre armrest (front only) and heated front and rear door armrests; electric sun blinds in rear doors and rear window; and electrically extendable footrest behind the front passenger seat.
