Why should you check your brakes this autumn and winter?
Make sure to get your brakes checked this Autumn and Winter.

As the weather starts to get colder, the road conditions start to get tougher.

The brakes on your car will be working harder due to slippery surfaces, reduced stopping distances and road salt/moisture. Below are more examples of what may happen to your brakes in colder weather.

  • Less traction on the road – Any icy or wet weather can cause slippiness on the road, this in turn makes your brakes less effective and increases your stopping distance

  • Freezing – In some cases, water/moisture can get into your brakes causing them to seize or drag

  • The need for frequent braking on slippery surfaces causes pads and discs to wear out faster.

It is good practice to have your break fluid changed every 2/3 years and have your breaks inspected for any possible wear and tear. If you notice that your brake pedal is spongy or grinding, this is another sign to check.

There is no better time than now to get your brakes checked to catch any potential issues early. Contact us below to get booked in for this check.
